Inside SQL Server 2005: The Storage Engine is just out, and I’ve already started getting feedback. A couple of people seem to be reading it cover to cover, and finding all kinds of interesting errors. Although there were technical editors reviewing my chapters, both volunteer and paid, the final responsibility for catching mistakes is mine.
There was also a copy editor, who is supposed to catch obvious errors in the final manuscript, and make sure that all questions and comments from the technical editors have been adressed, prior to sending the pages to the printer. The copy editor should make sure that the comments are then removed from the documents. Three different readers have pointed out that there is still a note from one of the Technical Editors to me that was not removed from the final pages. An admonition to me to change some wording can still be seen in a note near the top of page 48.
I’ve already reported this, and a few other errors as well, in the errorlog on my web site:
www.InsideSQLServer.com/errorlog.html
Additional errors should be reported to me through the feedback link on the site.
Have fun!
