I finished the actual writing of my Storage Engine volume today. I thought that would be good fodder for my first blog entry.
Inside SQL Server 2005: The Storage Engine is now done. The last chapter was done a few weeks ago, but I still had to write front matter, including six pages of acknowledgements. There are still a few more chapter reviews that I have to do, and we are still waiting for Jim Gray's foreword, and he is stuck in Venice without a working laptop. So I am keeping my fingers crossed.
MS Press assures me that the book will be on the shelves in plenty of time for the SQL PASS conference in Seattle this November.
I was having a race with my daughter who was trying to finish her doctoral dissertation. I'm not sure yet who won.
